The origin of Gamma Mu Nu began from “Good” brothers wanting to provide a service to their community in the name of Omega. Gamma Mu Nu’s founding brothers Christopher Curry, Ivan Holland, Clarence Jarrett, Javar Simpson, Jason Hunt and Antoine Deloach saw that there was a need for a stronger presence of Omega in the Middletown area. These men put the minds together and developed a plan to start a new graduate chapter that would fill this void.

After months of petitioning, the Supreme Council of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity granted a charter that established the Gamma Mu Nu Chapter in Middletown, DE on October 9, 2013. Under the leadership of Basileus Javar Simpson, the Gamma Mu Nu Chapter had a phenomenal first year. Several service initiatives were enacted to strengthen Middletown and the surrounding areas. Making sure that all Omega Psi Phi’s mandate programs were implemented, Gamma Mu Nu was well on its way to beginning a decade of service to the community in the name of Omega.

The charter members of the Gamma Mu Nu are John Brisco, T. George Gibbs, Alcides Mulgrave, Lee Rideout, James Lee, Gregory Smith, Kyle Davis, Carl Bacon, Lamont Hall, Edward Morgan, Ken C. Edelin, Jr., Rob Allen, Michael Jones, Markus Johnson, Alvin Keller, Chris Stoudemire, William Garrett, Salahuddin Bin-Yusif, Jonathan Mitchell, Freddie Pruitt III and Nathan Jacobs.

In May of 2017, Gamma Mu Nu accomplished a first in the chapter’s history. The first line of new initiates crossed the burning sands became members of the Gamma Mu Nu Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. The “4 Determined Hounds” James Garrett, Jarvis Thompson, Dirk Butler, and Andre Valines, brought a new level of energy to the Chapter and fell right in line with their new brothers in helping Gamma Mu Nu to continue their role as leaders as well as productive members of the Middletown Community.

April of 2019 the “9 Sons of Psycho (9SOP)” were brought into the fold of Omega. Isaiah Denninson, Vonkendrick Ginyard, Marcus Little, Wudmaer Alexandre, Ramon Sosa, Jamal Phillips, Andre’ Haley, Drew Brown, Kenneth Avant immediately became impactful members of Gamma Mu Nu.

As the country dealt with a pandemic the brothers of Gamma Mu Nu kept in touch, as many did, virtually. Virtual meetings allowed Gamma Mu Nu to discuss, plan and put in place activities that supported the community. One such activity included providing meals for the nurses/workers at the Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Gamma Mu Nu felt it was important to support those health workers who had worked long hours in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. During that same timeframe Gamma Mu Nu played a prominent role in organizing marches and peaceful demonstrations following the death of George Floyd. Many meaningful discussions within the Middletown community were spearheaded by Gamma Mu Nu’s efforts.

In July 2022 Gamma Mu Nu took another step forward in expanding its Mentoring Program as it sponsored 10 of its mentees to travel to Charlotte, NC and [participate in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s STEM program for middle school students. This event took place during the Fraternity’s National Conclave. Because of this and other activities accomplished from Gamma Mu Nu’s mentoring and fatherhood initiative programs, the Chapter was awarded a special award from the Second District. November 2022 proved to be another exciting moment in the history of Gamm Mu Nu as the Chapter welcomed in 7 new members. Juris Stutts, Don Carter II, Michael Cobb, Sr., Charles Rickets Jr., Joshua Dean, Jabbar Irby and Steven Morris Sr. are the 7 Surviving Souls of a Sticky Situation (7SSSS).
